Project: Organization 2015

It's a new year and rather than making a bunch of resolutions that I know that I will fizzle out on before the middle of the year, I thought we could join together to get some organization projects rolling.

I have to be honest, I'm not the most organized person. It's not something that comes naturally to me, or something that I necessarily enjoy. But I also cannot stand not being able to find what I need.

Today will be the first part of my new Project: Organization 2015 series running for the next few Tuesdays.

First, let's talk about how to to set yourself up for success with your organization projects.

1. Make a list of the projects you want to finish.
The best place to start I've always found is to get down on paper or on your phone the projects you want to get finished. There's something gratifying about crossing off those things as you get them done.

2. Prioritize your list.
Figure out the projects that are the most important to your living arrangements and start there first. Getting a main project done will keep your motivation going.

3. Break your large projects down into smaller, doable pieces.
It's so easy to get overwhelmed by the bigger tasks in your house. Mine, personally, will be my bedroom closets. I know that will be completely overwhelming to try to do it all at once. I'm planning on working on it in small pieces to keep it manageable.

4. Get on Pinterest and find some awesome ideas for your organization solutions.
As I've talked about before, I've got a love affair with Pinterest and I don't care who knows it. Check out my Organization board for some great ideas.

What projects are you hoping to tackle this year?
