High Five for Friday!

Welcome to another week of H54F! Tif at Bright on a Budget, Katie at Cup of Tea, Della at Della Devoted, and I are so glad you are here!

This week's featured blogger is Ashley from Life on the Parson's Farm. She's a lifestyle blogger, has an adorable family, and we've actually shared some similar experiences regarding growing our families. Be sure to check her blog out and give her some love!

Now for this week's five:

1. Juliet and I went on a lunch date on Wednesday which was a lot of fun. She loves pancakes, so First Watch was an obvious choice. I love that she's getting old enough to do these kinds of things together.

2. I got to meet Tif IRL this past weekend! We were able to go get an early dinner at Old Bag of Nails. It was good to finally get to meet my blogger friend :)

3. Thank you Ohio for finally giving us some good weather! We were able to play outside, do a cookout last night and actually get into the pool. It's great to not be stuck inside staring at the rain.

4. One class down! I took my final Wednesday, so I've just got a few more papers and then a few weeks break. It's good to finally get through these classes. I'm pretty sure next semester will go smoother now that I'm back in the groove.

5. I'm getting a cricut explore this weekend! I've been looking at these things forever, and now that you can finally design your own stuff, it's time to get one. Birthday parties, holidays, gifts, and just fun projects are going to be so much fun and less time consuming. Joann's has $50 off through tomorrow. Check it out!

How has your week been? I'd love to hear!

Ravenwood Castle: A Weekend Getaway in Ohio

On Friday, I posted briefly about a short getaway Jay and I took to Ravenwood Castle. With everything that we have gone through in the past year, and dealing with the pain of losing 3 babies on top of me starting a new job and going back to school, we just really needed time to reconnect and be alone together.

I started looking well in advance, but we just couldn't find something we wanted that wouldn't take us away from Juliet for too long. Then, like God was answering our prayers, we found Ravenwood Castle. Not only was it adorable and had rooms based on different fairy tales, but it was free for that weeked AND they had a beer tasting weekend going on that included our meals. It was perfect!

Not only is there an actual castle out in the woods, but they also have a little English village right outside of it that are rooms for guests to stay in. They are created to period or by fairy tale story, so the merchant's cottage is above a storefront just like it would have been in the medieval times. The Spinster's Cottage is another that looked absolutely adorable, mostly because it was based on Sleeping Beauty.

We ended up renting out the Silversmith House, a big pink house complete with a turret at the end of the quiet little village.  It was a lot bigger than we really needed, but since it was only one still available, we snatched it up. And it did not disappoint! The bedroom upstairs was my absolute favorite. If we could do our room at home like that, we would in a heartbeat!

It was probably the most relaxing weekend we've had in a long time. Not only were the grounds gorgeous, but the innkeepers (yes they do exist!) were great and kept the weekend fun.

Since it's a bed and breakfast, they always serve breakfast to their guests, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint either of the mornings.

We did some hiking around Hocking Hills, a place that holds special meaning to us as we got engaged there 3 1/2 years ago. It was wonderful to have a weekend that we could just have fun and not be on a schedule.

I would more than recommend taking a break and relaxing at Ravenwood Castle if you ever get the chance! Check out their website here for more information and pictures of the other rooms that are available.

High Five for Friday!

Hey all you H54fers! I'm glad to be back and sharing a little bit with you today. Make sure you check out my wonderful co-hosts blogs, too! Katie at Cup of Tea, Della at Della Devoted and Tif at Bright on the Budget and I have loved getting to know all of you through this link up. I've admittedly been a little MIA over here on the blog, but I'm glad you all still stuck around :)

Now, let's get on with the five for this week!

1. A couple weekends ago, Jay and I decided to do a little getaway to a really awesome bed and breakfast in Hocking Hills. We definitely needed it after everything we have gone through this year, and umm, hello, it was a castle! (Yes! A castle in Ohio!) Make sure you stop by on Monday for a whole post about Ravenwood Castle

2. We stopped at this neat little strip mall and flea market on our way home from Ravenwood and found a statue and a little saying that were just a perfect memorial for the babies we've lost this year. I've been looking and looking for something to commemorate them, something to show they had meaning too but I just hadn't quite found it. When we saw these, we just knew. It's really helped give me a little closure to the pain we've been going through. I'll never be over it, but I can move forward.

3. I'm coming to the tail end of my first semester back at college, and it's been a juggling act to say the least. There's been a few days that I can't even believe that I'm doing all of this. Sometimes it's hard to see what the benefit of all this sacrifice is. I'm excited and guilty at the same time. The life of a mom I suppose :)

4. We finally have some clear weather! It's rained almost every single day for the past two months. Which means Juliet and I have barely gotten to do anything outside this summer on my off days. We are taking full advantage and have plenty of trips to the park planned this weekend while we can.

5. I've got the creative bug, and I think it's mostly because I've been spending almost all of my free time writing papers and studying. I'm working on making this adorable little ruffle skirt for Juliet, and I've been going to town planing her 2nd birthday party (how is she almost two?!) I've even gone so far as to figure out some of my handmade Christmas gifts so they can be done early and not be stressful this year.

How has your week been? I'd love to hear!

High Five for Friday!

Guys, I'm woefully late posting this. It's because I actually got to sleep in today! And let me tell ya, I took advantage. I don't get to do that often so I'm not letting it slip by!

Now, onto the H54F goodness!

1. Jay has today off because we were going to do a weekend getaway since I'm in a new job and can't take vacation yet.  Well, nothing is planned and were trying our best to get into this adorable B&B that we've been looking at forever. Nothing like waiting to the last minute, am I right?

2. Juliet is now 20 months. So crazy! When did that happen?! It also makes me painfully aware that she should be having a sibling in about 2 months (or 4 months). I've just been focusing on loving on her and letting the rest go. It's easier some days than others.

3. I've been working like a mad woman trying to keep up with my college classes.  I've only been out of undergrad for about 3 years, but wow, it feels like a lifetime. I think I'm finally getting back into the swing of things, and thank goodness because I've got 2 major science courses I'm taking in the fall that I have to do good in.

4. I've been dreaming of some blog redesign. Nothing major, and quite honestly I'm not sure when I'll have time, but it's fun to think about. Fellow bloggers, any recommendations?

5. Our chickens got the ok to stay! My hubby is probably even more excited than I am, but I fully believe that everyone should have the right to have a few fresh eggs, regardless of where their home is. Downfall, I may never get Jay to move now....haha

I just wanted to say thanks to all my readers and blogger friends for understanding the hiatus that I've taken here on the blog. It was partially unintentional, and partially needed to get myself put back together. I'm finally getting a grasp on everything going on around here, and I'm excited to get back to my lovely community here.

Finding Yourself in the Midst of Change

I know it's been fairly quiet around here. And I know I have said that I will be back at it.

And I so want to be.

But I also don't want to be throwing out subpar blog posts just so something's there. That's not what I want for this blog, or what I want to share with anyone that may read it.

We've had so much going on lately, and it's been hard to find a balance for it all.

It's taken me a really long time to not feel in a complete funk about losing this last baby. 3 losses in a row and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt like I was drowning and that no one was there to help for a really long time.

I'm also about a month into a new job that I'm still learning, and in the middle of my first (accelerated) semester of college courses after almost 3 years of a break since I graduated with my BA. It's all new territory with being a mom, having a job, a husband, and trying to make everything else happen. I've thought more than once that I'm probably crazy for trying to do all of this at once.

Recently, we have gotten some answers about why I may be miscarrying so often, and after my next appointment, I plan on sharing a little bit more with you all, because I think it's important and it's not something that anyone should be ashamed of talking about. It's hard, it sucks, and you get a lot of people (doctors included) that brush you off and don't give you any answers. But sometimes there are answers out there to find, and that's important to know.

So, I'm still trying to find myself and my blogging voice in the midst of all this change. I really do feel like I'm growing as a person right now, and I just haven't quite found myself yet. It's exciting and scary and exhausting all at the same time.

I'm excited to have you guys on this journey with me, and thanks for putting up with all the craziness around here :)
