High Five for Friday!

Welcome to another week of High Five for Friday with KatieDellaTif and I! We're so glad you're here.

Our featured blogger this week is Taylor from Tattooed Teacher in Texas. She's been a long time H54F veteran. I love her planner peeks and her post about goal setting. Go over and check out her blog, leave some H54F love :)

Whew, where do I start this week?

1. Well, it's been a little quieter around here because we've been in the process of buying a  new house! It's been a little unconventional process, and it's definitely dragged out, but we will be closing at the end of February and starting to remodel soon after! It's so exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time. Expect quite a few DIY projects for the home coming up. I'm itching to get started!

2. I did so well at the beginning of this week cooling and making healthy food.  But it seems like as I go on through the week, my motivation kind of fizzles out. I'm hoping to get better about t, and at least I've got healthy leftovers!

3. Juliet has been obsessed with her Lambie from Doc McStuffins that she got for Christmas. It's pretty adorable, she sings her song with Lambie at bedtime and naptime.

4. I'm trying out the Younique mascara and I'm excited to do a review for you all in the next week or two.

5. We're hoping to get a dent on cleaning and decluttering more of the house this weekend. I think we've done really well the past month or so, but I'm starting to lose motivation now that we're getting down to the stuff that's hard to part with. Plus, I'm just not one of those people that enjoys cleaning. I mean, I love how my house looks after, but it's just so hard for me to get started sometimes.

High Five for Friday!

Welcome to another week of High Five for Friday with KatieDellaTif and I! We're so glad you're here.

Our featured blogger this week is Melissa at The Happy Little Hive. Make sure you head over and show her some love!

It's been such a crazy busy, but fun week over here!

1. I, along with 4 other wonderful ladies, were able to relaunch a fun Mom's ministry at our church. I can't tell you how much I look forward to having time with other moms that just get it. I'm looking forward to continuing our events the rest of the year!

2. I shared on Instagram this week that I've been loving Vega One shakes. They are seriously so good, and I picked them because they don't have a bunch of junk in them like a lot of shakes do and they are packed with vitamins and nutrients. If you have a Kroger nearby, we've found it quite a few times over $10 off.

3. You know what they say about a full moon? Well it was definitely true for us at our home group for our church last night. All the kids were just crazy! Louder than normal, rowdier than normal, and nothing just seemed to calm them down. It was definitely an interesting night, to say the least.

4. I know at least a few of you out there follow Modern Mrs Darcy. I'm really excited to try out her reading challenge this year! I am trying to find Joy this year, and I know reading is definitely part of it for me. If you haven't checked her blog out before, I highly recommend it!

5. KonMari-ing my life is going fairly well! I should've taken a before photo, but I'm so pleased with how my drawers are looking! 3 1/2 trash bags full of clothes AND I've probably gotten rid of 10 or so bags of clothes over the last year. That's what happens when you still have clothes from high school... Oops.

Courage

I've always been a dreamer, a reader--that kid with their head in the clouds imagining just what their life would be like if it really was like those adventures I buried my nose in. But none of those stories really caught my attention--my mind--quite like the Chronicles of Narnia.
Before the movies, before I could even read, my dad would read chapters of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe to me. I would beg for more, even if we had been reading for hours. I fell in love with the characters; in love with the story.
As I've gotten older, the lines above have taken on a new meaning. Even as an adult in a book deemed for children, I find solace and kindred spirit in C.S. Lewis's most famous works.
I've shared on this blog the hardships we've endured in the last year with miscarrying 4 times, the issues with finding a doctor that would treat me the correct way instead of lumping me in with others that couldn't get pregnant at all, and then I just kind of stopped sharing.
It's been 5 months since my last miscarriage. Over a year of trying for another child. We took a break and I've been focusing on my health. I've got a wonderful naturopathic doctor that my OB-GYN is willing to work with, and we are really starting to get to the bottom of why I'm miscarrying. It may be as simple as switching my vitamins and using some progesterone during the pregnancy. We're not completely sure yet.
A little over a month ago, I just really felt that God was leading us to let go of the control and trust Him through this process by allowing ourselves to be open to getting pregnant again. Probably the scariest thing I've considered. We definitely want to have another child, and we definitely want to follow God's will for us as a family and a couple, but after the past year, the hope and the sadness we've gone through, it's absolutely terrifying to think about.
I was so at peace and so ready to just let this happen, whatever the outcome. But now, as I am getting closer and closer to that time where I will find out whether we are pregnant or not, I've had such mixed emotions. I believe and know that our family isn't complete, but I've had to continually pray and remind myself that whatever happens, it's the best thing for us right now.
Through these feelings of uncertaintity, nervousness, and some fear I have thought back to that moment in The Dawn Treader when everything looked to be lost. And in the midst of all of it, Aslan (a metaphor for God) swooped down and told Lucy, "Courage Dear Heart."
And I know my God is whispering that to me now.

High Five for Friday!

Wow, is it really time for another week of H54F?! This one really did sneak up on me. It's been so crazy over here on the personal side of the blog, that I just don't know where my time is going!

Anywho, welcome to another week of High Five for Friday with Katie, Della, Tif and I! We're so glad you're here.

If you missed out last night, check this link for a video of our fun hangout sesh! Hopefully you can make it next month :) And for those of you that were able to make it, thanks for spending you're evening with us. We always enjoy these get togethers so much, even if some of us were sleepy (ahem, me! lol)

Our lovely featured blogger this week is Holly from While I Wait. She's definitely a girl after my own heart, trying out the Kon Mari method of cleaning. I've done a little bit of this, but I'm looking forward to diving head first into this method this weekend, and I love getting to see someone else's prospective on it.

Now, for this week's five!

1. As I mentioned above, we've got some pretty crazy amount of stuff going on over here on the personal side, and I  am hoping to get to share the details with you all in the next few weeks! In the meantime, I just thought I'd share that I've basically been diffusing/using Stress Away essential oil blend from Young Living on the daily and it has helped so. so. much. This little bottle right here has made me a complete believer of essential oils. Love it!

2. We got our first real snow here in central Ohio during the week. Juliet has been begging me to go play in the snow since last year we were unable to find snow boots in her size (she has itty bitty feet.) So this was her first time actually getting to play in the snow and she loved it! It was so much fun and totally worth it even though it took longer to bundle and unbundle than the time we were actually outside.

3. Jay and I took a little getaway last weekend to Hocking Hills. It was definitely different than our trip to the castle this summer, and while it was nice, it definitely wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I did enjoy just getting to spend time one on one with my hubby, though!

4. I've started doing yoga in the mornings a couple times a week, and so far I'm really enjoying it. I definitely need to work on my flexibility so it seems like a perfect fit. Plus it's such a nice way to start your day, I feel like it really gets me off on the right foot for the morning.

5. I got sucked into Making a Murderer on Netflix. Has anyone else watched it?! I'm only a few episodes in since I don't want to watch it in front of Juliet, but man! I can't even believe this stuff is real life.

How was your week? I'd love to hear!

2016 Word of the Year

Last year, when I chose Trust as my 2015 word of the year, I had no idea just exactly how that would encompass the way my life would play out in the last 12 months. When I felt that God was telling me that trust needed to be the center of this past year, never in my life would I have dreamed that the trust I was desperately trying to cling to would have to hold me through 4 miscarriages and so much heartache.

That I would take that trust from God, and finally give it back to him. That I would have to be at my lowest of lows to give my whole life over. This whole "picking a word of the year because I'm a blogger and it sounds cool" thing pretty rocked my entire world for an entire year.

And this year?
This year I see Joy.
I want Joy.
And I choose Joy.

Because it is a choice. Joy is something that you can choose to have, even on the crappiest of days. It isn't happiness, although you can experience the two at the same time. But to me, and for this next year, I choose to find joy in the moments that I'm in right now. In the situations that I am given, even if that means searching for joy through heartache.

I know one of my greatest assets in this is going to be One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I borrowed it via audio book from my library and it completely changed the way I was thinking about my life. I now have a hard copy, and want to read a little bit each week. Even if you don't have trouble finding the good in every day, I encourage you to read it because I really, truly do believe that it will at least encourage you to continue striving to looking for the joy in each day.

I am so hopeful for this coming year, and after a long time of living in the valley, I am looking forward to what the promise of a new year brings.

If you want some joyful inspiration in your life, check out my Pinterest board that's all about my word for 2016. I'll be compiling things that bring me joy there. Let me know if you'd like to join me! I'd love collaboration.

Have you chosen a word for this year?

High Five for Friday!

Happy New Year and welcome back to our newest full year of High Five for Friday! Katie, Della, Tif and I are excited to start a brand new year with you, I can just feel that it's going to be a great one.

Our featured blogger this week is Crystal at And Blue Sky. I love that she loves Star Wars too! I always get excited to find another lover of the series. Go check out her blog and show her some H54F love.

And now on to this week's 5:

1. Jay and I had our 3 year anniversary on Tuesday. We're actually celebrating this weekend, but he got me these beautiful flowers, and we've really just had a great week, even though we've all been fighting colds.

2. Speaking of Jay, he made me the most awesome craft table ever over the weekend! The photos are super rough because I'm still trying to get it organized, but I'm so in love! I just know I'm going to make all sorts of wonderful lovely son this baby.

3. I'm determined to learn how to sew decently this year. I guess you could say it's one of my resolutions. I really just want to make basic stuff, and maybe some cute clothes for Juliet. I definitely don't think I'll be a seamstress, but it's just one of those skills desperately want to be good at.

4. I got my first facial on Wednesday and it was amazing! I'm still letting my skin recuperate, but it looks so much better even right after she did it. I'm not going to lie, it was a little painful but so, so worth it. It's definitely something I'm going to be adding to my beauty routine. Plus! It was an all organic, chemical free facial which I didn't even know was possible prior to finding Jessica Bentley Skin Spa. If you are in the Columbus area, I highly recommend her!

5. Our organization projects have come to a bit of a halt this week since we all seem to have come down this an annoying cold that's kept us tired in the evenings.  I'm looking forward to be fully over all of this so we can continue purging and organize. I think I just reached my limit because I'm so ready for everything to have a home.

Celebrating 3 Years of Marriage

4 years together.
3 years married.
1 beautiful daughter.

And lots of heartache in between.

On Tuesday I celebrated 3 years of being married to my hubby. 3 hard, wonderful, challenging, heartbreaking, and joyful years.

Can I tell you something? They've been the hardest years of my life. I've been stretched more as a person and in my faith than I have in the 23 years that came before this.

But, they've also been the best years.

Between the fights, the stubborn standoffs (on both sides), and the heartache of losing 4 babies together, I've had a constant companion, a wonderful father to my daughter, someone who has been there for me. Someone who has figured out how to navigate this mess of pain that we've been given in the last year and was there even when we felt like we weren't going to make it.

We've came out of what seemed like a dark tunnel, holding hands and all that much more stronger for it.

And this year, I'm just so thankful to have him by my side.

Through the loss.
Through the hurt.
Through the dark.

Because there is an end to those feelings and those days, and we are finally starting to see the light, together.

Neither of us have this marriage thing down perfectly, but we are stumbling our way through this journey and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.

High Five for Friday!

Hello Loves! Welcome back to another week of High Five for Friday! Can you believe that Katie, Tif, Della and I have been hosting for nearly a year now?! It's been so fun getting to know you all and share our lives with you. I'm really looking forward to another wonderful year with you!

Just a little housekeeping: We won't be having a featured blogger this week, since we weren't sure how many would be blogging on New Year's Day, but it will be back in action next week! We will be tweaking the H54F experience in the next couple weeks with a new type of linkup, and a few other fun things :) Don't forget to mark your calendar for our next H54F Google Hangout on January 14!

Now, this week's five!

1. I chose the word trust as my word of the year for 2015, and elaborated yesterday just how that played out for my year. It's been an eventful one, for sure. Next week I'll be sharing my 2016 word of the year.

2. We had such a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you did too! I am just now catching up with my sleep, but this year really was so much fun with Juliet. She knew who Santa was (even though she was scared of him) and she enjoyed opening her--and everyone else's-- gifts. Plus we surprised her with a doll house!

3. I'm officially old. My hubby and I fell asleep on the couch well before midnight, and I'm not even mad about it! We did get dinner, which was a fun trea, but that's all I really need.

4. We're working on getting our house in showing shape, so if/when we want to sell (hopefully by this spring!) it's done and we just have to do basic cleaning instead of full fledged purging and deep cleaning in a frenzy. We've made some good progress already!

5. I'm looking at getting a serger so I can start really sewing.  I'm a pretty novice seamstress, but I'd love to be able to make clothes for myself and Juliet, and I know serging will be must faster and more professional looking. I'm definitely open to suggestions if anyone has some!
